今天是祖国的生日，一个普天同庆的日子，一个属于所有中华儿女的日子。
近代历史上，中华民族被压迫被凌辱得太久了，以至于每当遇到这样的时刻，总会让人热泪盈眶，激动不已。今天的中华大地上处处洋溢着欢乐，这是一种略带悲情的欢乐——多少人的牺牲与付出才有了我们今天的一切，为了今天，我们民族经历了太多的苦难。
如今的中国，有现代化的军队，有日新月异的科技，有饱含斗志的人民，这是实现中国梦最好的时候，也是我们离中华复兴最近的时候。
一位位先烈为了民族独立，为了国家富强，前赴后继，舍生忘死。今天的我们更应该努力奋进，以一往无前的干劲儿托举出共和国更加美好的明天。

当我准备开始一段假期的时候，我总是喜欢挑选一些书带着。通常情况下，我总是会带着比我一次旅行中能够阅读的书多一些的书。我的理念就是，我宁愿在旅途中有更多的书读，而不是更少。
如果你像我一样，你可能已经开始思考你在今年的夏天要阅读哪些书——我觉得下面这些书非常值得推荐。
下面这些书都不是人们通常认为的轻阅读的读物。除了其中一个之外，这些书都在讨论关于破坏的话题，但是，我不是说技术人员通常所说的“破坏”。我发现我最近被吸引到了关于动荡话题的书中（这甚至是其中的一个书名）——无论是布尔什维克革命之后的苏联，战争期间的美国，或者是我们经济系统的全球洗牌。

《The Future of Capitalism》，作者是 Paul Collier. Collier 的最新作品关注的是一个对现在的很多人来说都很重要的，发人深省的话题。尽管我不会对他的观点完全认同——我认为他对问题的分析比他提出的解决建议要好一些——他作为经济学家的背景给了他聪明地看出资本主义将走向何方的能力。

巴黎圣母院大约建造于 1163 年到 1250 年期间，全名为“巴黎圣母主教座堂 (Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris)”是一座哥特式建筑。
巴黎圣母院既是一座教堂，也是一个艺术品，例如在本次大火中被烧毁的尖塔和玫瑰花窗 （2019 年 4 月 17 日下午 16 时 10 分更新：据报道，法国官方确认三面玫瑰花窗均安全） 都具有极高的艺术价值。

大火发生时，许多民众在塞纳河畔忍不住哭泣，还有人跪地祈祷。火灾发生当晚，一些人向着巴黎圣母院的方向合唱圣歌，寄托心中的悲痛。虽然巴黎圣母院不在中国，但是这种看着本国和本民族文明象征的珍宝被毁时的切肤之痛，中国人是有同感的。
巴黎圣母院还可以修缮重建，也许再过八百年之后，巴黎圣母院仍然是一座恢弘壮丽的建筑，继续向全世界慕名而来的游客讲述着法兰西文明的多姿多彩，但是，我们的圆明园却被永远地禁锢在一片废墟之中，千千万万生长在这片土地上的中国人再也没有可能去一睹这座园林的雄伟壮阔。是的，圆明园之所以被烧的一部分原因是当时的中国软弱无能，“落后就要挨打”是弱肉强食的历史铁律——直到今天仍然如此。
不过，我并不认同一部分人因为英法联军曾经火烧圆明园而对如今法国的遭遇落井下石，说这是“天道轮回”。
我们不能以一部分人在一段时间内的罪行作为衡量一个国家或民族的所有人在整个历史长河中的善恶。艺术和科学一样都是没有国界的，巴黎圣母院不仅仅是法国人的，也是全世界的，作为人类的一份子，我也不希望看到如同巴黎圣母院这样的人类文明的宝贵财富在烈火中毁于一旦，正如我同样不希望圆明园在烈火中毁于一旦一样。
中国的圆明园，法国的巴黎圣母院以及世界上其他国家和地区的珍贵文物都是人类先民的智慧结晶，代表着一个国家和民族的历史，也代表着人类文明。希望在未来，这样的文明劫难能够不再发生，无论是人类之间还是人类与人类文明之间，都需要相互爱护与包容。

Then, nothing happened. The watch beeped once and turn off. The man stood standing there, very much alive. You would think that in that moment he would have been overjoyed. Instead, for the first time in his life, the man was scared
Gratitude and giving thanks is really one of the most powerful things you can practise every day, if you are committed to achieving anything in life.
Money is easy. It’s easy to make; it’s easy to spend. And when it comes to the end, we can’t take any of it with us. Let’s make truckloads of it, but let’s not stress over it.
You know, when I was younger, when I was only 14, I was only 14, I was told by a drama teacher that I might do okay if I was happy to settle for the fat girl parts.
Look at me now. Look at me now.
So what I feel like saying in those moments is, you know, any young woman who is ever been put down by a teacher or a friend or even a parent, just don’t listen to any of it, because that’s what I did.
The life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up something; it’s universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up.
So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.
When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
and nodding by the fire, take down this book,
and slowly read, and dream of the soft look.
I hope you see things that startle you.
I hope you feel things you never felt before.
I hope you meet people with a different point of view.
I hope you live a life you’re proud of.
If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you want to win, but think you can’t, it’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost; for out in the world we find success begins with a fellow’s will. It’s all in the state of the mind.
Life’s battles don’t always go to the stronger and faster man.
But sooner or later the man who wins is the man who thinks he can.

No matter who you are, how experienced you are, or how knowledgeable you think you are, don’t pass judgment without giving others the chance to explain themselves first.
What you first see, may not be the reality.
Never conclude for others.
Everyone single person on the planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.
We feel as through we are worthless, but no matter what happened or what will happen, you will never lose you value.
Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who love you.
The worth of our lives comes, not in what we do or what we know, but in who we are.
You are special, don’t ever forget it.
I hate it when you make me laugh,
Even worse when you make me cry.
But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you.
If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you and cheers you in.
Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you what everything is going to be okay.
And if you find such a friend, you feel happy and complete because you need not worry.

For all the nights that I’ve sat up with you, doctored you and prayed for you, no charge.

Everyone focused on the black dot – and the same thing happens in our lives.
However, we insist on focusing only on the black dot – the health issues that bother us, the lack of money, the complicated relationship with a family member, the disappointment with a friend.
The dark spots are very small when compared to everything we have in our lives, but they are the ones that pollute our minds.
Take your eyes away from the black dots in your lives.
Enjoy each one of your blessings, each moment that life gives you.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it’s alright to cry.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I learned most of life’s lessons that I need to know to be a good person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I looked at you and wanted to say,”Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn’t looking.”

Today is the first anniversary of Hawking’s death.
A year ago today, Hawking had to leave us forever, a great scientific craftsman sleeps forever.
Hawking left, but his mind was immortalized. It was he who took us hundreds of millions of light-years away to appreciate the mystery there, he made us realize the eternity of time and the vastness of space, he taught us that humans are born small, but can achieve greatness.
